What
you should know about picture framing.
Acid
Free Components:
We use only acid free mats. Acid free mats help prevent the transfer
of the acids in the mat board to the picture. When non acid free
mats are used, and the mats are removed from the picture you may
see a yellow/brown cast where the mats were touching the picture.
Using acid free mats helps reduce this affect. Acid free mats
also have a white core, which does not yellow with time.
Double
Matting
All
of our pictures are double matted to match the team colors. The
matting prevents the picture from coming in direct contact with
the glass where moisture could be trapped, and thereby ruining
the picture.
Hinging
All
of our pictures are held in place with acid free tape. By "free
floating" (hinging) the picture you can remove it at a later
date should the need arise. By attaching the picture in this fashion
you may notice some minute spaces between the picture and the
frame. If you were to tape the picture all the way around, climatic
changes could make the picture pucker. Hinging allows the picture
to adjust to climatic changes without affecting the overall appearance
of the picture.
Frame
Style
We
use a moderate frame profile designed to be cost effective. If
you choose to order just the matted picture, you may then select
another frame at your local frame shop.
V-Grooves
V-grooves
are grooves in the top mat. A V-groove will show the core of the
mat, therefore creating a white border, and the illusion of another
mat. V-grooves are labor intensive, and therefore add cost to
the picture, but the affect may be worth it. Some of our pictures
have V-grooves already cut.
Shipping
There
is no problem shipping stand alone pictures, or matted pictures
via UPS or the mail system. We will ship our framed pictures packaged
in styrofoam "peanuts" to help prevent againt glass
breakage. Ultimately it is your responsibility to claim against
the carrier in the event of damage. We will ship insured if you
like.
