This is an annual award presented “to the player having played a minimum of 60 games, who leads the league in plus/minus statistics” at the end of the regular season. Bud Light contributes $5,000 to the winner’s charity of choice.

The award was first presented to the NHL by Anheuser-Busch Inc to recognize the league’s plus/minus leader. The plus/minus statistic is calculated by awarding the player a “plus” when he is on the ice for a full strength or shorthanded goal scored by his team, and he is given a “minus” when he is on the ice for a full strength or shorthanded goal scored by the opposing team.
